Liz and Leigh – A Wedding For The Ages

Beginning of a lifelong friendship

Liz and Leigh first met in 2007 through the Sacred Heart Youth Group (SHYG) in Ladner, BC. Their friendship grew stronger throughout one of the youth group’s trips to Sydney, Australia for World Youth Day in August 2008. They remained close friends over the years, bonding over many commonalities, such as the experience of UBC student life, being members of the UBC Greek System, and their love for travel, healthy debate, and ethnic food.

Beginning of a lifelong romance

In April of 2015, Leigh was able to successfully navigate his way out of the friend zone, and found his way into Liz’s heart, by using his talents to help her with a UBC film project. With the anticipation of Liz’s dietetic internship starting in the Fall, what was thought to only be a summer romance quickly turned into something neither of them could walk away from. Short of two years later, Leigh proposed to Liz at the Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York, March 23rd, 2017.

Wedding Ceremony

Built in 1966, Sacred Heart Parish serves the Catholic Community in the Ladner and Tsawwassen area. The church has a lot of history for both Liz and Leigh, as it is where they first met over a decade ago.

Wedding Reception

Originally a machine shop dating back to the 1920’s, Performance Works opened on Granville Island in 1992 with a mandate to provide the arts community with a permanent rehearsal and performance venue. Join us for a fun-filled night of dinner, dancing, and good times!

As parking on Granville Island is limited, we encourage carpooling with family and friends!
Granville Island offers limited free parking for 3-hours throughout the island between 7am and 7pm.
After 7pm the 3-hour restriction doesn't apply. Please check the posted parking signs for details.

Alternatively, there are pay parking lots providing metered parking ranging from $3.50 for 1 hour to $15.00 a day.

For those of you taking public transportation, the closest SkyTrain station is Olympic Village Station
on the Canada Line. It's a 15-minute bus ride (or 25-minute walk) from the station into the island on Bus #50 (Waterfront Station).

The most important gift to us is having you share in our special day.

After multiple attempts at creating a gift registry,
we realized that having lived together for quite some time, most things we need we've already got.
With two toasters, two blenders, and too many glasses for wine, in our current home we sure can't fit a lot.

But if you wish to contribute in some other way, we would love a
few pennies to put in our pot, for our new home together after we tie the knot!
